Adelaide Crows midfielder Rory Sloane was the man that laid the controversial tackle on Hawthorn midfielder Isaac Smith to which many thought was holding the ball.

In the dying seconds of last Friday night's match against the Hawks, Sloane laid a bone crunching tackle on Smith, who seemed to take the ball out of the air and braced himself to be tackled with no intention of getting rid of the ball.

Seconds later, the siren sounded and the Hawks claimed their third straight win by three points.

Sloane was interviewed on Triple M Adelaide where he was asked whether he thought the decision went against them.

Co-host Dale Lewis asked: "Was it you who had the mitts on Smith at the end there? Did you think it was going to be holding the footy?"

Rory: "Nah, not really. No chance really at that stage of the game. What people forget is that happens throughout the whole game, so you dont really think about it."

"Umpires call that play on now, which is probably right. It allows the game to flow."
